Why do you think teenage pregnancy is such a high rate?

I'd think with all the information about risks of STI's and pregnancy, teenagers would be more careful about sexual intercourse. But then agian, I guess people make wrong decisions when their under the influence of drugs and alcohol.





So what are you opinions on this?Why do you think teenage pregnancy is such a high rate?
misinformed and uneducated young adults. Too many families, religious communities, and schools act as if knowing what's going on with your body such a 'taboo'. There is nothing wrong with knowing how your body works, or doing the research to find these things out. Also, the 'wivestales' going around highschools, that young women can't get pregnant if they have sex during their periods. I can't beleive how many people i've seen just on here talking about that. It's amazing. and of course, it's TOTALLY FALSE. How are teens supposed to know how to avoid getting pregnant or sick if they don't know HOW it happens? Sure, drugs and alcohol play a role in some situations, but not all of them. Many more girls get pregnant on their first time completely sober, and it could have been prevented simply with the use of a condom.Why do you think teenage pregnancy is such a high rate?
Well in my school theres such a mixed kind of people. (Sorry don't know how else to phrase that.)





There are people like me who would never dream of having sex at such a young age. Then there are people like a few of my friends who have just turned into such slags over the past year. Maybe due to hormones as they are 13(I'm 14 now.) One of my friends has even had sex already when she was 12! It's disgusting in my opinion. I think maybe one of the reasons people have sex is that they drink to look 'cool' then end up doing something like having sex. Another reason in my view is that one of my friends (13 again) goes out with a 16 year old so maybe the 16 year old boy is pressuring her into it, or the 13 year old feels that she's going to lose him if they don't have sex as he's older and probably expecting this. Although, this isn't actually correct as two of my friends had sex with each other and they are both only 13!


Just sharing this as I know more what it feels like as I am in the teenage position.

Sometimes even if they try to be careful it still happens because condoms are not 100% effective at preventing pregnancy and also they get carried in the heat of the moment and might forget to use protection. Hormones are raging, you know how that goes
i think its cause these young girls are growing up too fast and parents now days either dont care or just giving up
